Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, well-organised and enthusiastic communications professional to join this organisation’s communications department and make a real impact. Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll be responsible for delivery of the departmental business objectives, be involved in setting the strategic direction for the team and will use your knowledge and passion for communications to help to increase engagement with their membership, external stakeholders as well as develop the internal communications strategy to improve engagement across the organisation.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll be responsible for delivery of the departmental business objectives, be involved in setting the strategic direction for the team and will use your knowledge and passion for communications to help to increase engagement with their membership, external stakeholders as well as develop the internal communications strategy to improve engagement across the organisation.
In this newly created role, you will:
- Create and distribute regular email newsletters to 70k + members
- Develop content for podcasts, oversee recording, edit content and work with the Social Media Manager to promote the podcasts to their audiences and increase the audience
- Work with the Social Media Manager in the development of campaigns to address the agreed key issues for the organisation and other organisations that they represent
- Work with the Head of Communications on the development and delivery of content to improve internal staff engagement
- Be a brand ambassador for the organisation and ensure adherence to branding and tone of voice guidelines, both internally and externally
- Monitor all campaigns the organisation works on, report on performance to the team and build future communications around the results
- Work with the Head of Communications to review and develop the organisation’s communications strategy based on a thorough review of existing processes
- Line manage the Communications Executive.
Candidate:
You’ll be able to present yourself and represent the organisation to a wide variety of stakeholders confidently and articulately. You’ll be an excellent communicator in person as well as in print. You should have a positive and proactive approach to problem solving in a small organisation. An interest in the arts, writers and writing are a real benefit, as is flexibility and willingness to learn new skills.
Specifically, our client is interested in candidates able to demonstrate:

- Proven experience in a similar Communications role (minimum of 5 years’ experience)
- Experience of communicating, in person and in writing with a wide range of stakeholders
- Experience of creating dynamic content for a diverse range of audiences across multiple digital and print channels
- Experience of coordinating a wide range of activities, the ability to work under pressure, and to prioritise and meet deadlines
- A professional, positive, and confident tone in all communications
- Excellent interpersonal skills, adept at communicating and working with stakeholders at all levels
- Strong technical skills, including WordPress, MS Office Suite, Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, audio and editing software
- Exceptional attention to detail in written communications and in project management
- Strong understanding of brand and tone of voice.
