In this role you will:
- Lead and manage the evaluation team (6 staff) ensuring that colleagues feel valued and able to work effectively
- Lead the organisation’s approach to evaluation and support the team to commission and manage high-quality evaluations (mainly randomised controlled trials) of funded projects
- Lead the organisation’s relationships with the research and evaluation community, including managing the appointments to their panel of evaluators
- Liaise across project teams and evaluators to design robust and practical evaluation plans and support Evaluation Managers to setup and monitor delivery of evaluation plans
- Work closely with colleagues to ensure that published reports are of high quality and effectively communicate findings to an audience of academics, policymakers, practitioners and the general public
- Play an active role in the senior management team and the decisions it makes alongside the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and other heads of department.
Candidate:
- Masters (PhD desirable) or equivalent relevant experience in social sciences, research, statistics, etc
- Extensive experience in delivering and commissioning mixed-methods evaluation projects in education, health or other related area
- Working knowledge and understanding of randomised controlled trials (RCTs)
- Demonstrable track record of driving quality and innovation in an evaluation and research context
- Ability to build and maintain successful relationships and communicate effectively with practitioners, academics and policymakers. Confidence to challenge partners on status quos and accepted ways of working
- Proven track record of leading and managing the performance and development of a small close-knit team.
