Our client is looking for a dynamic, experienced policy professional to lead their high-profile public affairs, campaigning, influencing and policy work. You’ll develop and maintain key relationships with senior partners and politicians and influencing the external environment on behalf of their members.

In this role you will:
- Lead their highest profile proactive campaigns, public affairs and influencing activity. The projects assigned to this post are likely to be politically sensitive and high impact
- Build relationships and engage with senior partners to build alliances and influence policy and political views
- Engage with their members by leading one or more high profile Strategic Delivery Groups which are one of the organisations’ key ways of engaging with its members
- Work with senior members of housing associations across Wales to develop policy positions and campaigns on high profile issues based on the views and experiences of their members
- Represent the organisation at senior level meetings and build relationships with politicians
- Deputise for the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive as appropriate
- Lead and manage the Policy and External Affairs team.
Candidate:
- At least 5 years working in a policy development or political influencing role
- Experience of building strong relationships with key politicians, civil servants and partners that leads to results and influence
- Experience of managing projects and campaigns
- Proven experience of leading and managing a team (including setting objectives, motivating staff, performance management) and strong team-building skills
- Experience of managing and monitoring budgets and sound financial management
- Good political judgement and a ‘can-do’ attitude to make things happen
- The ability to influence stakeholders, diplomatic with strong interpersonal and listening skills.
