In this role you will:
- Lead the development and implementation of the charity’s Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns strategy
- Drive campaigns and influencing that influence public opinion and change policy across governments and health provision, to improve the lives of young people with cancer
- Establish and maintain a strategic overview of policy relation to young adults with cancer across the UK and lead their influential stakeholder management
- Advise on policy and public affairs developments UK-wide relevant to young people with cancer and their families
- Work with the senior leadership team to develop the charity’s approach to integrated public influencing campaigns
- Lead on the policy and public affairs aspects of campaigns delivery as part of wider influencing leadership
- Be an effective leader and manager of the team and a credible and authoritative representative of the charity at meetings, events and in the media.
Candidate:
- Significant experience in policy and public affairs and an in depth of knowledge of health policy relating to cancer
- Experience of stakeholder engagement particularly with government departments, politicians and policy makers across the four nations
- Substantial senior-level influencing and public campaigning experience including driving integrated mobilisation campaigns
- Experience of acting as a spokesperson on policy issues in national groups and with the media
- Significant successful leadership and management experience and ability to develop a team
- A passion and commitment to young people affected by cancer and their families.
