In this role you will:
- Respond to briefs from colleagues and support the Manager in media activity to effectively handle proactive and reactive press enquiries
- Draft accurate and compelling media copy including press releases, case studies, comments and statements
- Liaise with and brief suppliers (designers, PR companies) as part of external communications strategies
- Develop and maintain relationships with the media across broadcast, print and online
- Work with the Manager on crisis issues and prepare responses where necessary.
Candidate:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline
- Proven experience of working in a busy, national press team either in-house or within an agency - able to deal with incoming media enquiries quickly and effectively, writing press releases and proactively pitches stories
- Proven track record of achieving coverage in national, online, consumer and trade media
- Experience of working sensitively and responsibly on complex issues and with case studies
- Ability to prioritise work with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Willing to be part of an out-of-hours rota.
