Role:
We are looking for a new Policy Manager with a keen eye for detail to lead on the development, delivery and implementation of key standards and ethics initiatives in the research sector at the EU level and internationally. This is an exciting time in our development and this role will further strengthen our policy and influencing capabilities. You will take a lead on developing standards for our healthcare research activities and also sustain and expand our contact networks with the wider research and policy making communities across the EU.

You will take a lead on developing standards for our healthcare research activities and also sustain and expand our contact networks with the wider research and policy making communities across the EU.
In this newly created role you will:
- Provide expertise on research industry codes, ethics, standards and guidelines specialising in the healthcare market research sector
- Develop policy positions on emerging data protection and ethical issues on the use of data and facilitate opportunities for shaping the debate on these critical issues
- Draft revisions to existing sector codes incorporating key international developments in data protection law, research ethics and healthcare market research such as adverse event reporting
- Advise researchers on achieving best practice in research and related activities by advising on interpretation and application of EU and international research codes
- Coordinate EU focused public affairs activities particularly on standards and self-regulation initiatives
- Working closely with the Director of Policy & Standards to support the work of the MRS Policy Unit and the public affairs programme.
Candidate:
- Graduate with at least three years’ experience in policy development and standards work in a similar related environment
- Demonstrable experience working with European institutions and with complicated legal, regulatory, and policy issues that involve Brussels-based institutions and EU Member States
- Sound understanding of self-regulation, data protection and privacy, digital ethics and related policy areas
- Excellent persuasive verbal and written communication skills with ability to build effective internal and external relationships
- Ability to research, analyse, interpret, summarise and present complex information in a systematic and coherent way
- Strategic thinking skills with demonstrable ability to identify problems, and develop and recommend proportionate, innovative and pragmatic solutions
- Self-motivated and confident team player with the ability to be flexible in a continually changing environment and evolving business objectives
- Written and spoken fluency in French or German would be desirable.
