Role:
The Policy Team is a small, high performing team of research and policy experts who sit at the heart of the organisation and play an important role in driving forward the organisation’s strategic policy priorities. This role will lead the quality assurance that they provide for policymakers on teacher professional development reforms (e.g. Early Careers Framework and National Professional Qualifications), ensuring that these reforms are grounded in the best available research evidence. The role will also be actively involved in their wider policy work, including identifying policy priorities and working with the organisation and stakeholders to deliver these.

Depending on experience and interest, there is also scope to get involved with their research and synthesis activity, for example by undertaking or commissioning evidence reviews on topics of relevance to teachers and policymakers.

In this role you will:
- Support the quality assurance process for key policy initiatives, particularly National Professional Qualifications and the Early Career Framework
- Develop policy positions, both proactively and in response to regulatory bodies and Department for Education and work with other teams to ensure policy positions are understood across the organisation
- Build relationships with key education policymakers, researchers and senior stakeholders from a variety of education organisations
- Keep up to date with key education developments and provide briefings to support the executive team and CEO
- Lead the management of projects with the Department for Education
- Explain policy positions to a range of audiences by providing information briefings, drafting policy position papers, blogs and reports, writing and delivering presentations
- Act as an ambassador, representing the organisation at external functions and events.

Candidate:
- Education to a Degree level in a relevant field
- At least three years’ experience in education policy or research
- Strong understanding of education policy, particularly around teacher professional development reforms
- Strong understanding of evidence methods and standards, particularly around evidence synthesis and the UK’s ‘What Works’ centres
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to produce high-quality written communication to inform and influence policy outcomes
- An ability to build strong relationships with policymakers and other stakeholders
- A strong track record of delivery and achievement
- An ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team and a small organisation, offering a hands-on approach.
