In this role you will:
- Plan and deliver the organisations’ public affairs activities across the UK and develop and maintain strong relationships with key political figures
- Horizon scan for upcoming policy developments and provide public affairs support to the Policy Unit to achieve maximum impact from their proactive policy projects
- Raise awareness and understanding of the organisation across governments around the UK, informing and influencing policy where relevant through high quality briefings, submissions and engagements
- Track the progress of relevant bills, select committee activity, and parliamentary process, raising awareness internally of these developments, circulating regular reports and insight on parliamentary activities
- Prepare high-quality briefing materials for political audiences and internal stakeholders to support strategic, policy and public affairs objectives.
Candidate:
- Knowledge of public affairs and parliamentary processes
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience of working in a policy/public affairs function or within government
- Experience and confidence in independently engaging external and internal stakeholders
- Knowledge of how to influence and deliver Government policy change
- High quality written and oral communication skills, with experience of producing high quality written briefings, and being able to digest a wide range of information and opinions and distill into pertinent points
- Knowledge of education policy is not required but is desirable.
This role would suit someone who has worked in parliament, a think tank, or public affairs agency and is looking for their next step. The role has huge potential for growth and will become much more senior over the next year as our client dramatically expands their public affairs work across the four nations of the UK & internationally.
