Role:
In these fantastic roles you will employ economic analysis and quantitative methods to shed new light on education issues across the foundation’s UK and international portfolios, leading and managing projects that apply an understanding of market failure, cost-effectiveness analysis, behavioural science, incentives, and quantitative modelling to pressing policy and practice questions. You will also shape, design and secure funding for research and evaluation projects and manage their life-cycle through to delivery and to sharing findings, contributing to foundation’s aims of raising its visibility and ensuring a positive impact is made by all of its research.
One role will support two key portfolios; Education to Employment and Social Mobility and the other will support their international work focused on low- and middle-income countries and sub-Saharan Africa.

- Be responsible for one or a suite of projects as agreed with the project director, ensuring that they address research questions and client interests
- Lead project teams, overseeing delivery and ensuring quality assurance procedures are followed, ensuring good communication with all involved in a project (including associates)
- Shape and lead delivery of the quantitative elements of mixed methods projects
- Initiate and lead the development of innovative research and analysis solutions to address the interests and needs of policy makers and practitioners
- Identify potential opportunities for new research projects in priority areas and develop a business case to take these forward
- Realise opportunities to increase awareness and recognition of the Foundation’s expertise, specialist education knowledge and products, including through participation in impact activities, and sharing findings through a range of media
- Assist with developing quality standards and contribute to learning and development activities that ensure these are met consistently.
Candidate:
- A first degree or higher degree in economics, with a strong microeconomics and evaluation element, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and professional experience
- Background in research, ideally in education, with a particular focus on quantitative methodologies and comfortable with data, statistics and other evidence
- Experienced user of statistical software, for example STATA, SPSS, R, MPlus and MLWin
- Effective communicator both verbally and written, with experience of drafting research reports and / or publications as an author
- Experience in applying principles of good project management, including the management of resources, budget, risk and team management
- Not essential but would be great to have good knowledge of / interest in the education sector in the UK or in low and middle income countries (especially sub-Saharan Africa).
